Designed to empower the next generation of ecological researchers, this project seeks to nurture structural change. WHEN THE BUTTERFLIES WOULD VISIT brings together artists/activists/scientists around the environmental struggle in Guna Yala territory of Panama.
The excrement of fossil fuels and capitalism has washed up onto the shores and inside the bodies of the Indigenous Guna. In the summer 2022, on the ecological indigenous artist residency, we seeded this project to share knowledge and build new ways of working—ecological reciprocity.

Baltimore-based twin artists Hope & Faith McCorkle have built an entire exhibition around that knowing, and what it means to carry it long after the table and the person who set it are gone.
You Can Always Come Back Home is an immersive, multidimensional installation that asks one of the most profound questions we can hold: where is home when the world keeps moving and the people who made it are no longer here? Working across large-scale mixed-media scrolls, domestic objects, inherited furniture, and participatory installations, Hope and Faith construct a gallery environment that breathes like a living room—layered, intimate, and full of presence. Rooted in Black feminist thought and bell hooks' concept of homeplace as a site of resistance, the exhibition positions home not as a fixed location but as a space where memory, spirit, and ancestry live as one.

Participants will explore a brief history of street puppetry and gain hands-on experience in up-cycling and scavenging free materials to create large-scale puppets and expressive masks for street performance.

Joe Keyes will be the first to tell you that he is a late bloomer. A lifelong musician who got his start DJing in middle school, it wasn’t until 2009, as he was approaching his 50s, that Keyes found his band, and his true sound. The Freehold, NJ, native formed Joe Keyes & The Late Bloomer Band around an ensemble of young musicians equally adept at playing the funk, R&B, soul, rock and jazz flavors Keyes throws at them.

Untrained new artists will learn multiple approaches to figure drawing while seasoned artists will have the opportunity to hone their skills and further train their eye. In this class, students and their grown-ups will make their first exploration of stage magic, learning two cool tricks that can be performed together as a team. After that, they’ll see a special magic show!
Jim Lauderdale embodies the sound of American roots music for listeners around the world. A 2025 inductee into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Lauderdale will release his 38th and 39th albums in 2026: Country Super Hits Volume 2 and a bluegrass collection, The Birds Know. His major label debut, 1991’s Planet of Love, opened the door to international touring and established him as an A-list songwriter on Music Row. His songs have been recorded by George Strait, Patty Loveless, George Jones, the Chicks, Old Crow Medicine Show, Lucinda Williams, Charley Crockett, Dave Edmunds, Solomon Burke, and many others. Between 2004 and 2013, Lauderdale wrote and recorded six albums with Grateful Dead songwriter Robert Hunter. His many other collaborators include Buddy Miller, Elvis Costello, Donna the Buffalo, North Mississippi Allstars, Po’ Ramblin’ Boys, and Ralph Stanley. In 2016, Lauderdale received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association; he’s also won two Grammys in the Best Bluegrass Album category.
