Bharatanatyam weaves emotions, “Bhava”, with complex footwork, “Nritta”, to depict our cultural stories through dance, “Natya.” The form has a rich tradition of narrative elements that are intertwined in different aspects of our performances. Abhinaya is the art of expression in Bharatanatyam. It involves facial expressions, eye movements, and body language to portray the emotions and narrative of a dance piece. Some writers are introverts, while others are willing to jump right in. However, all writers have one thing in common: writer’s block. During this unconventional detox, we’ll provide various exercises to break the dreaded block we all face. Did someone say acapella singers? A photo-walking tour? Yes, we did. We'll use the unconventional to break a habit, and establish a new one to help you move through (or to) the next act, chapter, page, or phase of your draft. The series will commence with a group project to be shared with the class and inspire others. Furthermore, we'll encourage writers to form an alliance, as writing solo is never fun! So, what are you waiting for? It's time for a detox!
