Lantern Making Drop-in Workshops

Using our lantern designs of parade's past, create your next great lantern! Then, bring it to our spectacular parade and let it shine bright. Drop-in anytime between 4 and 7pm to create a glowing lantern in this special workshop at Creative Alliance, then bring them to march in Baltimore’s only Great Halloween Lantern Parade and Festival in Patterson Park!

Painted Screens Workshop w/ Michael Seipp

Painted screens are a unique Baltimore folk art. Watch a short film on the history of the painted screens and the early painted screen artists, enjoy a demonstration of the painted screen technique, and then paint paint a small screen. Multiple painting options are available. Two drinks from a selection of beer and wine are included in the workshop cost!

Dr. Sketchy’s Anti Art School: Baltimore

A livelier life drawing event, Dr. Sketchy's is where artists of all levels draw fabulous burlesque and variety performers! Enjoy delicious cocktails and a performance by the model, and compete in zany drawing contests to win free drinks and other awesome prizes! We'll start off with quick 1- and 2-minute gesture poses and gradually move up to 20-minute sketches. No drawing experience is necessary; just bring your own drawing materials—and cash tips for our model—and join us for some fun figure sketching practice!

The Great Halloween Lantern Parade & Festival

Once the sun sets, the magic begins. Myths, spirits, and legends converge in Patterson Park from lands beyond, bringing their mystic wonder to Baltimore. A majestic Alebrije presides over the stage as an ethereal Ouroboro watches over the festival grounds. Dragons, mythical creatures, ghouls, and spirit folk parade through Patterson Park surrounded by bright and beautiful music. Everyone is welcome to grab a lantern and march with thousands of neighbors, artists, musicians, and performers. Many more line the parade route to watch the delightful Great Halloween Lantern Parade winds through the night!!

All critiques will be in-person at Creative Alliance. Godwin Louis

The musically impressive Godwin Louis is a Haitian-American with a love for the rhythms and melodies of his motherland, who is on a quest to trace the roots of jazz. The saxophonist has traveled to over 100 countries in the study of the African musical diaspora. His findings inspired Global, a far-sweeping and personal debut album, which could also be seen as his manifesto.

Ami Dang w/ Infinity Knives

Creative Alliance hosts the album release of The Living World’s Demands by sitar player and ambient musician Ami Dang! Amrita “Ami” Kaur Dang is a South Asian-American vocalist, sitarist, composer and producer from Baltimore. Her sound blends elements of North Indian classical, noise/ambient electronics, beat-driven psych and experimental dance pop. The work references her hybrid identity as a first-generation South Asian-American, Sikh upbringing, musical education, as well as the chaos and spirituality of the landscapes of both Baltimore and urban India.

Creativity Center Grand Opening!

We can’t think of a better way to celebrate than opening all our doors, so you, your family, friends, and neighbors can dance, eat, create, and explore throughout the day! Get crafty with the Artesanas in the beautiful storefront classroom, watch cooking demonstrations from many countries in the teaching kitchen, and pop into a salsa, capoeira, or hip-hop lesson in the dance studio. The historic Patterson, with its bright and shiny refinished marquee, is also open! Listen to Sidewalk Serenades in the BUS stop, grab a cocktail in the Marquee Lounge, visit the exhibitions, and meet our NEW Resident Artists in their studios. There’s even free hot chocolate!

Our Box Office is currently open from Noon to 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays and one hour before all ticketed events. We accept cash, cards, and checks. Service fees are waived for in-person ticket purchases.
