Whether you’re brand new to drag or already have some experience and want to sharpen your skills, this 4-class series is your chance to take a deep dive into the revolutionary art of drag. Come for a fun, supportive introduction to the artform and leave with new skills and a taste of what it feels like to go from concept to performance. Each week will cover a different topic and will build on previous weeks.

Class 1 (October 6, 2026): Finding Your Drag Persona
This class covers foundational pieces of creating your drag persona: name, aesthetic and backstory. We’ll explore the purpose and energy you want your persona to convey and what it takes to get gigs.
Class 2 (October 20, 2026): Hair + Makeup
Get hands-on with the transformative tools of the trade: wigs, contouring, and eye, nose, and lip work. Learn key makeup techniques and start developing your own signature style.
Class 3 (November 10, 2026): Looks + Music
This class covers silhouette and function, finding your vibe, and pacing your number so your presentation and music convey your story.
Class 4 (November 24, 2026): Blocking + Energy
This class is all about bringing it together for stage. We’ll work on gags, entrances and exits, choreography, and mood.
(December 8, 2026): Student Showcase
Persona, styling, music and energy finally come together in your final performance. This is your chance to tease your wig to the heavens and strut your stuff on stage. This private celebration is just for series participants and your invited friends and family; it is not open to the public. Performing is optional, but if you made it through the series, come cheer on your classmates!
Instructor Bio:
Hosted by Bratz Lavey and Lula Lioness, you can learn the basics and history of drag from two dolls who eat, live, and breathe the art of drag.
When: Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 PM on October 6, October 20, November 10, November 24, 2026.
Student showcase is on December 8, 2026 from 6:30-8:30 PM
Where: Dance Studio and Classroom 2 at the Creativity Center at 3137 Eastern Ave.
Experience: No previous performance or drag experience required.
Materials: No materials required, but participants are welcome to bring something to take notes. Participants should wear clothing that is comfortable to move in.
