Tahitian Dance Class with Angie | CIELO

Learn the art of Ori Tahiti (Tahitian dance) which is deeply rooted in ancient Polynesian traditions and has many benefits such as strengthening muscles, improving posture, and boosting self-esteem. 

Location: The Creativity Center, 3137 Eastern Ave. Baltimore MD 21224
Age Range: For women ages 15 and up.
Cost: $50, $45 Members | Ticket includes 2 classes on April 8 & 15
No experience necessary!

Class 1: Saturday, April 8, 2023 – 10am to Noon
Ori Tahiti (Tahitian dance) is deeply rooted in ancient Polynesian traditions and has many benefits such as strengthening muscles, improving posture, and boosting self-esteem. 

In this first class, learn the ōte’a, characterized by rapid hip-shaking motions to percussive accompaniment. 

Class 2: Saturday, April 15, 2023 – 10am to Noon
Ori Tahiti (Tahitian dance) is deeply rooted in ancient Polynesian traditions and has many benefits such as strengthening muscles, improving posture, and boosting self-esteem. 

In the second class, learn the ʻaparima. ʻAparima is the only Tahitian dance in which the hands serve as a means of conveying a narrative rather than being ornamental.

Primera Clase:
Ori Tahiti (danza tahitiana) está profundamente arraigada en las antiguas tradiciones polinesias y tiene muchos beneficios, como fortalecer los músculos, mejorar la postura y aumentar la autoestima.

En esta primera clase, aprenda el ōte’a, caracterizado por movimientos rápidos de sacudidas de cadera con acompañamiento de percusión.

 

Segunda Clase:
Ori Tahiti (danza tahitiana) está profundamente arraigada en las antiguas tradiciones polinesias y tiene muchos beneficios, como fortalecer los músculos, mejorar la postura y aumentar la autoestima.

En la segunda clase, aprende el ʻaparima. ʻAparima es la única danza tahitiana en la que las manos sirven como un medio para transmitir una narración en lugar de ser ornamentales.
