Figure Drawing w/ Karen Bendersky

This drop-in figure drawing course is suitable for all skill levels. Untrained new artists will learn multiple approaches to figure drawing while seasoned artists will have the opportunity to hone their skills and further train their eye. Each class will feature a nude model and begin with quick gesture poses. The remaining time will be spent on the artistry of longer poses. The goal is to train all artists to more quickly and fluidly capture the gesture of the entire figure.

Free Family Sundays: Make a Beaded Portrait
Meet us in the Joseph Education Center Studio for a workshop inspired by the special exhibition Joyce J. Scott: Walk a Mile in My Dreams. Experiment with beads and wire to sculpt a portrait of yourself or a loved one! This workshop will be led by Quante Thomas and Susan Tuberville, guest instructors from Creative Alliance’s Kerplunk! program.

Papercutting with Care Series w/ Annie Howe

Join papercut artist Annie Howe for a fun and hands on papercutting workshop series. In this two session workshop you will learn the basics about papercutting and how to create your very own custom papercuts. Annie will teach you the main concepts of papercutting and get you started on your own design. Annie will be there to guide you on any technical questions and design ideas you may have throughout the entire workshop. You will leave with the understanding of how to make a papercut and also your own finished or almost finished (depending on how complex you make it) original papercut and the know how to continue papercutting at home!

Crankie Curiosities w/ Marian McLaughlin

Curious about crankies? During this workshop, mixed media artist Marian McLaughlin guides you through the process of crafting your own multi-dimensional storytelling device with acrylic paint on fibrous Tyvek paper scrolls. Through crafting crankies, engage in visual, kinetic, and narrative concepts. And then take home a miniature crankie box of your own creation! Prompts are available, or come prepared with a simple story or song to base your crankie on. Materials are provided, no artistic experience is necessary.

SOLD OUT! Painted Screens: A Baltimore Folk Art Family Workshop

Painted screens are a unique Baltimore folk art. This workshop will include a short film on the history of the painted screen and early painted screen artists and a demonstration of the painted screen technique. Paint a small screen to take home with you based on provided designs or create your own!

Open Critique w/ Schroeder Cherry

Join artists for monthly Open Critique—one of Creative Alliance's longest-running programs! This is an opportunity to share artwork in progress, engage with local artists, and build community. This event is free for members, and this month is hosted by artist Schroeder Cherry! Each session is an open forum to show 1-2 examples of your artwork and receive feedback from experienced artists from varying mediums and backgrounds.

Clay for Everyone: Bmore Clay Series w/ BMORE CLAY

Have you wanted to work with clay but haven't had the opportunity? Bmore Clay Series is a Black and queer-led program created to present an alternative to predominantly white ceramic spaces and provide work opportunities with clay. We host accessible, diverse, intro to hand-building workshops created for communities of color in Baltimore. This workshop is open to everyone.

Those Who Art Together: A Casual Critique w/ FAITH

Join artists for monthly Open Critique—one of Creative Alliance's longest-running programs! This is an opportunity to share artwork in progress, engage with local artists, and build community. This event is free for members, and this month is hosted by artist FAITH! Each session is an open forum to show 1-2 examples of your artwork and receive feedback from experienced artists from varying mediums and backgrounds. Please send digital examples of work 48 hours before the event day to visualarts@creativealliance.org.

Our Box Office is currently open from Noon to 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays and one hour before all ticketed events. We accept cash, cards, and checks. Service fees are waived for in-person ticket purchases.
