Calling all NEW Stilt Walkers! Have you ever wanted to be a stilt walker? Now's your chance! Train with Baltimore’s best, Jes Raschella, of Baltimore Hoop Love.
We are putting together a large troupe of stilt walkers to walk together wearing illuminated costumes in the Great Halloween Lantern Parade. If you stilt walk already, we would love for you to be there with us! If you have always wanted to learn to stilt walk, we will be hosting workshops and meetups to learn and to practice. If you would rather not walk stilts and support us with your two feet on the ground, we would love for you to join us on the ground support team!
The first annual Charm City Burlesque and Variety Festival (CCBVF) runs Friday September 29 through Sunday October 1 at Baltimore’s Creative Alliance, home to some of Baltimore’s first burlesque and variety shows.
Essential Tease core instructor and international burlesque headliner Jacqueline Boxx (she/her) wants to show you that pin-up style posing can include all of the glamour and none of the discomfort or shame.
This workshop is intended for producers and event organizers, but is open to all who have an interest in creating safer spaces in nightlife and entertainment. We will discuss the roles and responsibilities of creating a consent-centered event as well as preventing and responding to consent violations.
We'll learn a one minute burlesque routine involving big, unapologetic movement, then discuss how you can practice not shrinking for anyone on a daily basis.
Resting at the intersection of Swarovski capes, sparkly spandex, and erotic fanfiction; Nerdlesque is an artform unlike any other. Maki Roll (She/Her) will teach you how to elevate your pop culture performance art and undress your favorite nerdy characters (and concepts) for every audience.
This open level class that utilizes elements of fitness conditioning, sensual movement, and dance theory, to provide the student with a total mind and body movement experience. In this 60-minute class, students will learn the Liquid Motion® Fundamentals to build a foundation for floor work & wall work.
Students will explore the rich history of Black burlesque and drag shows in America, including the sociopolitical and cultural dynamics that both separate and intertwine these communities. There will be a focus on local DMV burlesque and drag history.
Calling all Divas, Vixens, Sirens, Vamps, and Bombshells! This fun and empowering workshop is for non-belly dancers and belly dancers who want to explore a bolder side of themselves. This class was created to pull many out of their comfort zone and bring forth an all new level of self confidence with emphasis on style, grace & stage presence.
If you think “the good old days” of the “business of show” was the conclusion of the last century, oh, nay nay. Sideshow historian and museum creator James Taylor takes you on the wild ride that – in the “modern era” of the last several hundred years – is the broad picture of the industry, from circus to world’s fairs to dime museums to wild west shows to burlesque and beyond.
