Welcome to The Soul Stage, a new series by Black Assets highlighting the future of soul music in Baltimore by showcasing new and upcoming soul, funk, and indie artists from the scene. With the impact that soul music has had on her life, Black Assets wants to bring soul back to Charm City and trail blaze a lane for it by amplifying critical local voices.

Join us for a celebration of Baltimore's Black history and its burgeoning future. Tour two Cross Street Partners projects of great significance to Baltimore history while enjoying some delicious soul food. Tour the Upton Mansion, the future home and research center for the 131-year-old AFRO American Newspapers Archives, then visit PS 103, a segregated elementary school for African American children, notably attended by Justice Thurgood Marshall. After 17 and 25 years vacant, respectively, both buildings are being restored as vibrant centers for the celebration of Black history and culture. Get a sneak peek at both of these incredible projects before they are complete!
A rare live performance by the Todd Marcus Jazz Orchestra, a nine-piece ensemble of six horns, piano, bass, and drums led by Baltimore bass clarinetist and composer Todd Marcus, one of the few jazz artists worldwide to focus primarily on the bass clarinet. The band features lush and intricate original compositions that often feature influences of Middle Eastern music reflecting Marcus' Egyptian-American heritage. Started in 2003, the ensemble includes musicians from Baltimore, New York, Knoxville, St. Louis, and Lansing. Albums include the 2006 debut In Pursuit of the 9th Man, 2015’s portrayal of Egypt's Arab Spring revolution called Blues for Tahrir, and 2022’s In the Valley that offers a portrait of modern and ancient Egypt.
The The Second Annual Irish Tenor Banjo Summit takes over Creative Alliance on November 17th and 18th! Join us for a full weekend of dancing, performances, and workshops celebrating traditional Irish music. Full festival passes are available as well as tickets to individual events.
Two art forms COLLIDE for Baltimore City school students! Taking place on the Baltimore City Public Schools Professional Development days, these camps are chock-full of SPECTACULAR arts for students in grades 3-8. For half of the day, students work with local artist Jesse Lentzwiler to create their own little plush friend! For the other half of the day, Creative Alliance resident artist kolpeace leads a hands-on interactive exploration of arts and teamwork called "Mini Mural Mindfulness."

Painted screens are a unique Baltimore folk art. This workshop will include a short film on the history of the painted screen and the early painted screen artists, a demonstration of the painted screen technique, and painting a small screen. Multiple painting options will be available.

Chris Ryder and Lisa Summers invite you to their Bolton Hill Grand Dame house to experience their collection of contemporary Haitian art acquired over the four years they spent living in Port-au-Prince. Lisa and Chris purchased metal work from the artists of Croix-des-Bouquets, paintings from artists of the Movement Saint Soleil in the mountains of Soisson-la-Montagne, and paper mache from artists in Jacmel. Learn about these artists and their work while you sip a cold Prestige (the national beer of Haiti) or rhum punch. Enjoy soup joumou, a traditional pumpkin soup, awarded protected cultural heritage status by UNESCO, and other Haitian delicacies. Our Box Office is currently open from Noon to 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays and one hour before all ticketed events. We accept cash, cards, and checks. Service fees are waived for in-person ticket purchases.
