Are you ready to finally take the leap and see what burlesque is all about? Or, are you a current performer who is thinking about reimagining your relationship to burlesque?
Our team of experienced burlesque instructors will guide you through becoming a burlesque performer inside and out. We will progress through act creation from start to finish while incorporating mindful techniques for both on and off the stage. Essential Tease is the ideal starting point for truly transformative acts! This eight-week in-person workshop series is conducted at Creative Alliance in Baltimore, MD, and concludes with a ticketed, live student showcase!
Registration includes eight weeks of prepared lessons, out-of-class coaching and one-on-one mentorship, complimentary costume add-ons and crafting sessions, access to an online community with your peers, as well as the opportunity to rehearse and perform in a student showcase on the Creative Alliance main stage!
Essential Tease welcomes ALL gender identities, abilities, ages, sexualities, races, religions, AND experience levels. All humans welcome, and all bodies are burlesque bodies!
Richman has spent decades removing barriers between himself and his audience, cultivating an intimacy that is almost extinct in modern music.
Formed in 2022, Baltimore supergroup The People’s Longband plays what could broadly be considered “folk rock” interwoven with deeply psychedelic improvisation, reimagining material drawn from North American and British Isles song traditions and nearly two decades’ worth of compositions from singer/guitarist Dave Heumann (Arbouretum).

Essential Tease instructors Jacqueline Boxx, Tempete La Coeur, and Ruby Rockafella are proud to present eight brand-spanking new burlesque performers!
Led by acclaimed singer Heather Lloyd (ilyaimy) and mandolinist Joel Michael-Schwartz, an all-star ensemble of musicians is bringing songs of ghosts, monsters, fae, witches, and, (of course), murder most foul to Creative Alliance.
A rare live performance by the Todd Marcus Jazz Orchestra, a nine-piece ensemble of six horns, piano, bass, and drums led by Baltimore bass clarinetist and composer Todd Marcus, one of the few jazz artists worldwide to focus primarily on the bass clarinet. The band features lush and intricate original compositions that often feature influences of Middle Eastern music reflecting Marcus' Egyptian-American heritage. Started in 2003, the ensemble includes musicians from Baltimore, New York, Knoxville, St. Louis, and Lansing. Albums include the 2006 debut In Pursuit of the 9th Man, 2015’s portrayal of Egypt's Arab Spring revolution called Blues for Tahrir, and 2022’s In the Valley that offers a portrait of modern and ancient Egypt.

Come celebrate Hanukkah with everyone's favorite Klezmer band, the Honorable Menthsn, from Brooklyn, NYC. According to Shoshana Oysher, "it is customary on Chanukah for everyone to get together to play games and sing songs, both traditional, folk and otherwise" (from Moishe Oysher's "Chanukah Party," 1950), and that's the plan. Clarinetist Michael Winograd and his band are thrilled to be joined by the fabulous Berlin-based Yiddish songstress Sasha Lurje for a night of good times and good beats while miracles abound! Don't miss out! What better way to spend the fourth night? And like the menorahs shining through the streets of Baltimore, this party will most certainly be lit.

Hank Williams was a consummate country songwriter, with hits that included "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," "Your Cheatin' Heart," "The Lovesick Blues," and "Jambalaya." He died at the age of 29, on New Year's 1953, leaving behind a legacy of songs and performances that will not be forgotten. In the six years of his recording career, Hank Williams songs created the definition of the perfect country song. This popular show brings together an all-star cast of friends who get together just once a year to celebrate the songs of a country music idol.
We are thrilled to welcomer back Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog to the Patterson to celebrate their 5th studio release, Connection. Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog has long pushed the boundaries between traditional pop songcraft and avant-garde improvisational music, bridging their customary genre-agnostic approach with elements of glam boogie, minimalist disco, psychedelic boogaloo, garage-punk-against-the-machine agitprop, and so much more.
