All Good Things Must Begin!: Climate Change Theatre Action

Baltimore theatre artists, activists, and others are coming together to read 7 plays from 5 countries that will help us connect the dots between what is happening around climate and environmental justice globally and locally. Visual artist Maura Dwyer performs her cranky Wilder than Walls, and Sanahara Ama Chandra provides original music to help us bring our hearts and minds together.

Elvis’ Birthday Fight Club – FIVE SHOWS!

Flim-flam fisticuffs make for a sexy and surreal celebration of The King's birthday. This bizarre annual tradition is now in its 13th year. The knock-out production features seven elaborately staged bouts, Elvis-themed burlesque, and below-the-belt commentary from co-hosts "Elvis" and Kittie Glitter. While the annual fight roster is a closely guarded secret, past matches have included The Supreme Court vs. The Supremes, Freddie Mercury vs. The Queen of England, Bridezilla vs. Godzilla, Count Von Count vs. Count Chocula, Congress vs. a Clown, and Putin vs. a Unicorn.

Make a Puppet!

Work with others to make a puppet show in three hours! Black Cherry Puppeteer, Michael Lamason will lead participants through the process of developing a simple script, planning the show, making puppets and sets, as well as rehearsing and performing a simple puppet show. While this workshop is geared toward teens and adults, teachers will also gain skills to use in their classroom.

A Deep Dive: Introduction to Immersive Art

The word “immersive” has gained a lot of traction in the last ten years and has been used to describe everything from theme parks to shopping experiences. In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to the term as it relates to the performing arts. In the first part of the workshop, we’ll discuss the basic building blocks of immersive shows and cover some of the groundbreaking productions that led to the rise in popularity of the style. Then, we’ll share examples of some of our own productions and talk about the methods we use to imagine and build stories, characters, and whole worlds. The second part of the workshop will be on our feet, participating in group exercises, improvisations and games—the tools we rely on at the beginning of our process, no matter what the subject matter of the show.

Theatre of Change

This workshop is an interactive learning experience in which the performing arts are harnessed to explore the powerful genre of social justice theatre. Participants will explore WombWork Productions’ unique methodology of social justice theatre, which has been applied in urban communities to share unapologetic truths about the effects of poverty, addiction, institutional racism and trauma. This experience will give each participant the opportunity to have their voices heard, create community through collective expressions, and demonstrate how arts and culture can catalyze the change needed in the world.

Ageless Grace 2024

One of Dance Baltimore's most anticipated annual productions, Ageless Grace, is back and features dancers age 40 and over performing in a wide variety of dance styles--modern, tap, musical theatre, jazz, etc. Former professionals as well as community dancers will be featured.

A sell-out event for the past several years, the production annually demonstrates the healing powers and physical benefits of dance as a life time activity. Ageless Grace welcomes all ages to witness this inspirational evening.
