Classical Figure Drawing w/ Lauren Carlo

This drop-in figure drawing course is suitable for all skill levels. Untrained new artists will learn multiple approaches to figure drawing while seasoned artists will have the opportunity to hone their skills and further train their eye. Each class will feature a nude model and begin with quick gesture poses. The remaining time will be spent on the artistry of longer poses. The goal is to train all artists to more quickly and fluidly capture the gesture of the entire figure.

Art To Dine For 2024: Papercuts & Simple Pleasures

In this hands-on experience, artist/illustrator Annie Howe shares her knowledge and talent as she guides you through the delicate art of papercutting. Enjoy treats from Found Studio and local Harford Road corridor restaurants and tour Annie’s personal studio. Found Studio is a lovingly restored rowhome that has been reborn as an art gallery and gift shop full of art and gifts by local makers. Draw inspiration from this whimsical shop as you make your very own papercut artwork to take home.

Tastes of Nigeria w/ Bisola Gee

Join Bisola in this Nigerian-themed culinary class, where a feast for the senses awaits you! Awaken your tastebuds as you craft traditional sauces, refreshing drinks, and savory entrees, all drawn from traditional and passed-down family practices. Presented in partnership with Komite Ayiti.

Art To Dine For 2024: Coming Out with Art

Come vibe with spoken word artist, poet, and author Tony Keith, Jr. PhD at the hip and tranquil setting of Hampden’s good neighbor, a coffee and design shop. Tony performs and is then joined by visual artist Blu Murphy for an intimate conversation about their 30-year friendship and how creating art has enabled them to embrace their truest, fullest selves. Enjoy Chef Ben Lefenfeld’s Basque cuisine from La Cuchara with Blu's artwork on display. Receive a signed copy of Tony’s debut book, How the Boogeyman Became a Poet—a young adult memoir in verse from HarperCollins—with cover artwork by Blu.

Shake Out Your Sillies

Shake out your sillies with song, nursery rhymes, puppet shows, instruments, and, of course, a dance party! Each class begins with a breathing exercise before transitioning into music and movement activities. Taught by Eliza Adams, a Maryland preschool teacher and musician, this class is designed for children 5 and under. Caretakers are welcome to join or watch!

Can You Brush It? All-Ages Calligraphy

Get brushing with the whole family! Join Brittany DeNovellis from Novel Letter Studio for an introduction to fundamentals of modern calligraphy, using a brush pen. Ink up with learning about supplies you can use, the basic shapes and forms, and getting those letters moving!

Community Yoga w/ Free Baltimore Yoga

Free Baltimore Yoga is a safe space grounded in community movement. Our sessions aim to be accessible trauma-informed, nervous- system -focused, and breath- centered. Class from May through October will take place outside in Patterson Park! All ages!

Keith Timmons shares his personally curated art collection acquired from across the globe, including works from Kara Walker, Derrick Adams, Sam Gilliam, Jerrell Gibbs, and other emerging artists. Mr. Timmons leads you through the collection as you enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and engaging discussion about each piece.

Art To Dine For 2024: Water & Mirrors

Join us for an afternoon of light fare and drinks at the Ruxton home and studio of internationally renowned photographer Connie Imboden. Connie gives a studio tour and in-depth look at her inimitable technique that employs a black swimming pool and distressed mirrors. Her groundbreaking, multi-refracted photographs are in major collections worldwide, including MoMA, Bibliothèque Nationale, and the Baltimore Museum of Art. This fall, she will be presenting a 50-year retrospective at the American University Museum in Washington, DC.

Creative Alliance, TENT Rotterdam, and Baltimore-Rotterdam Sister City Committee, present Walk On By: an exhibition and a cultural exchange that connects Black artists, their diverse experiences, and artwork, across the Atlantic. Explore the Black Atlantic through the diverse stories of local artists in the historical port cities of Baltimore and Rotterdam, through exhibitions in both countries and an exchange program.

Belly Dance w/ Naimah Dances

Learn classic and modern Middle Eastern style belly dance. Both a social dance and a form of entertainment, belly dance is a great way to meet amazing people and learn about Egyptian history and culture. Pick up the foundational moves and vocabulary of belly dance, while learning about ethics, etiquette, music, and history of belly dance. Our Box Office is currently open from Noon to 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays and one hour before all ticketed events. We accept cash, cards, and checks. Service fees are waived for in-person ticket purchases.
