J will lead cooking demonstrations showcasing a featured ingredient or theme and collaborate with participants to create a full community meal. Learn the Ecuadorian practice of Porcelana Fria ("cold porcelain") in this special floral workshop with the Creative Alliance's Artesana Zoila Gomez! Porcelana Fria is an easy-to-make material that is used for school program, souvenirs, mementos for baptisms, bridal bouquets, quinceañera cards, centerpieces, decorations, and many more. Come join Zoila and create hands-on flowery art just in time for Mother's Day!
Free Family Sundays: Make a Beaded Portrait
Meet us in the Joseph Education Center Studio for a workshop inspired by the special exhibition Joyce J. Scott: Walk a Mile in My Dreams. Experiment with beads and wire to sculpt a portrait of yourself or a loved one! This workshop will be led by Quante Thomas and Susan Tuberville, guest instructors from Creative Alliance’s Kerplunk! program.
Kerplunk! is a free drop-in art class for younger kids and families held at Baltimore’s Creative Alliance. Join Kerplunk! every Saturday to create fun seasonal crafts and art projects based on current exhibitions. Learn more about classes.

Shake out your sillies with song, nursery rhymes, puppet shows, instruments, and, of course, a dance party! Each class begins with a breathing exercise before transitioning into music and movement activities. Taught by Eliza Adams, a Maryland preschool teacher and musician, this class is designed for children 5 and under. Caretakers are welcome to join or watch!

Forget the exercise and join the party! Zumba is an exercise program that is inspired by movements and steps from Latin dances. Created and founded in Colombia in 1990 by the Colombian dancer and choreographer Beto Pérez, it fuses high- and low-intensity movements to lower calories in a fun way. In these classes, balance and flexibility are combined with cardiovascular and muscular work and increased energy.
Curious about crankies? During this workshop, mixed media artist Marian McLaughlin guides you through the process of crafting your own multi-dimensional storytelling device with acrylic paint on fibrous Tyvek paper scrolls. Through crafting crankies, engage in visual, kinetic, and narrative concepts. And then take home a miniature crankie box of your own creation! Prompts are available, or come prepared with a simple story or song to base your crankie on. Materials are provided, no artistic experience is necessary.
Two art forms COLLIDE for Baltimore City school students! Taking place on the Baltimore City Public Schools professional development days, these camps are chock-full of SPECTACULAR arts for students in grades 3-8. For half of the day, go Around the World with professional yoyo-er Abby Brodsky! Come learn the exciting, dynamic and fast-paced art of the yoyo—one of the World's oldest toys! In this workshop, Abby will teach you how to bring the yoyo up and down, walk the dog, rock the baby and more! Anyone can learn with just a little patience and practice! For the other half, join Baltimore Clayworks for a hands-on clay workshop. Learn basic clay terminology and hand-building skills to create form and texture, then leave with personal air-dry clay creations to take home and enjoy.
Bring out your confidence and improve your presence on any stage or dance floor with this class series drawn from Baltimore's club dance scene. All experience levels welcome as we structure a routine that will getting you grooving and shaking like a million bucks. Dance, lead, and shine out joy in this three-session hip-hop dance series.

Mother's Day is a special holiday around the world. We take this time to honor, thank, and celebrate the important caregivers in our lives. In Latin American tradition, families gather and acknowledge their mama with gifts, food, and live music. CIELO of the Creative Alliance invites you to celebrate all mamas in the Latin American way with performances and music! We will have local food and traditional craft vendors so you can pamper your dear mom with gifts and snacks. Live music by Mambo Machine & Mariachi Imperio. Traditional dance performance by Jóvenes en Acción.

Painted screens are a unique Baltimore folk art. This workshop will include a short film on the history of the painted screen and early painted screen artists and a demonstration of the painted screen technique. Paint a small screen to take home with you based on provided designs or create your own!

Our Box Office is currently open from Noon to 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays and one hour before all ticketed events. We accept cash, cards, and checks. Service fees are waived for in-person ticket purchases.
