Come Through: Resident Artist Exhibition

Join our wonderful resident artists as they showcase the journey of their art practice since they started at Creative Alliance. Sound, photography, and collage will fill our second-floor gallery! For over 10 years, the resident artist program at The Patterson has supported artists from Baltimore and the nation. We continue the tradition with the opening of applications for the 2024 cohort.

Shake Out Your Sillies

Shake out your sillies with song, nursery rhymes, puppet shows, instruments, and, of course, a dance party! Each class begins with a breathing exercise before transitioning into music and movement activities. Taught by Eliza Adams, a Maryland preschool teacher and musician, this class is designed for children 5 and under. Caretakers are welcome to join or watch!

Kerplunk! Free Family Art Drop-In

Kerplunk! Family Art Drop-in class is great for younger kids and families! Join us in the Creativity Center every Saturday to create fun seasonal crafts and art projects based on current exhibitions! Come make a mess at our house!

Make a Puppet!

Work with others to make a puppet show in three hours! Black Cherry Puppeteer, Michael Lamason will lead participants through the process of developing a simple script, planning the show, making puppets and sets, as well as rehearsing and performing a simple puppet show. While this workshop is geared toward teens and adults, teachers will also gain skills to use in their classroom.

Bataireacht: Irish Stick Fighting

Bataireacht (or "Irish stick fighting") is a traditional Irish martial art where folks use walking sticks (shillelaghs) for self and community defense. This martial art has played a pivotal role in communal resistance to colonization in Ireland over hundreds of years and was almost lost to memory due to the Famine and targeted colonial campaigns to eradicate the practice. In these workshops, instructor Cuán S. McCann teach esRince An Bata Uisce Bheatha, the Doyle family style of bataireacht, which has a hidden dance history and beginner-friendly learning curve.
