Step into the vibrant and lively world of everyday people and places in Baltimore through the eyes of our former resident artist, Jason Austin. Baltimore In Repose invites you to explore the dynamic and diverse narratives of our city. Each piece serves as a window into the lives of friends, places, and loved ones, on a color spectrum that articulates the joy and vibrancy of Baltimore. As you navigate through the exhibition, you’ll discover a modern twist to the traditional art-viewing experience. Way-finding QR codes are embedded in each painting, allowing you to seamlessly connect with the depicted locations around the city. This interactive element adds a layer of exploration, inviting you to embark on a journey through Baltimore guided by Jason’s artwork. The color spectrum becomes a language, speaking volumes about the artist’s connection to the community and his dedication to capturing the essence of everyday life.

Jason Austin proudly represents our alumni Resident Artist cohort, a testament to the creative community Creative Alliance is  actively fostering. This initiative aims to support and empower emerging artists, providing them with a platform to showcase their talent and contribute to the cultural tapestry of our beloved city. Artist Bio
Jason Austin has been drawing and painting ever since he could pick up a crayon. After high school, he studied graphic design at the County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ, and later transferred to New Jersey City University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Illustration in 2006. In 2020, he earned his MFA at the University of Delaware’s Art & Design program.

He has since worked as a professional artist in fine art, illustration, and graphic design. His work can be seen in publications such as Jersey City Magazine, Home Accents Today, and Gift Shop Magazine. Jason has also self-published his own comic books, The Cosmic Samaritan and The Cassandra Effect. He collaborated with author Dr. Tameka Bradley Hobbs on two children’s books, Junebug and the Gumbo Garden and Soar.
