A livelier life drawing event, Dr. Sketchy’s is where artists of all levels draw fabulous burlesque and variety performers! Enjoy delicious cocktails and a performance by the model, and compete in zany drawing contests to win free drinks and other awesome prizes! We’ll start off with quick 1- and 2-minute gesture poses and gradually move up to 20-minute sketches. No drawing experience is necessary; just bring your own drawing materials—and cash tips for our model—and join us for some fun figure sketching practice!
For this month’s night of drinks and drawing, we’re excited to have an amazing Virginia-based performer, Curly Bright! Here’s more about our May muse:
Curly Bright is a Virginia-born burlesque dancer and acrobat who finally came into her own within the adult performing community after years of covering her face and hair, in hopes that her extremely Catholic Filipino parents wouldn’t find out. Her performance repertoire includes pole dancing, chair acrobatics, aerial Lyra, and fire eating. When not performing and finding new and dangerous ways to stunt on stage, Curly works as a professional makeup artist in the DC area, providing services ranging from natural makeup to special effects. Curly owes most of her burlesque life to her two troupes: Geekenders (Vancouver, BC) and Cosplay Burlesque (Northeast USA). Without them she would not be the performer that she is today. Enjoy a delicious cocktail or three and join in our crazy drawing contests for a chance to win some free booze and other neat prizes! No drawing experience is necessary—just remember to bring your own drawing materials, and be ready to generously tip our model!
***Mask policy update: Starting with this session, masks will no longer be required at Dr. Sketchy’s (unless there’s another surge, or a model requests that we require masks at their session). We still recommend that our attendees wear a mask when not actively consuming a beverage.***

$14 in advance, $12 for Creative Alliance members (+$3 over the phone, online, or at the door.)
BYO drawing supplies. No photography or messy paints, please (watercolors are fine).
