Grounded Captivation marks an exciting new chapter for Creative Alliance as we present our first fully immersive installation experience. Sebastian Sears’ work guides you through dimensional worlds before drawing you inward through his childhood memories of film, television, and the streets of Waynesboro, PA.

Artist Statement

This installation takes you on an immersive journey of imaginary landscapes and other-dimensional societies. These are the kinds of places we as humans are likely to daydream about and wonder… “what if?”

The landscapes then give way to a peaceful, dark bedroom, alluding to the idea of falling asleep. Now you are taken into the artist’s childhood memories of favorite TV shows and films, as well as clips of their childhood town of Waynesboro, PA. A return to a different period of time, mental development, and visual lens, only to be awakened back to a present reality.

Outside of the immersive space are three chairs. One with reading materials, one for drawing, and one for writing. They provide a welcoming, nestled atmosphere of comfort and relaxation to gather your thoughts and re-center.

About the Artist

Sebastian Sears is a Baltimore-based visual animation and scenic artist. His work explores societies and communities in otherworldly narratives using drawings, found imagery, animation, and Video.
