Mud to Music: Taller de Flautas de Arcilla

Los instrumentos musicales nos han ayudado a comunicar y expresarnos desde los comienzos de la cultura humana. Al construir nuestros propios instrumentos artesanales despertamos la memoria de nuestra conexión con la naturaleza, cultivamos presencia a través de trabajar el barro, y experimentamos alegría a con el sonido y la música. En este taller aprenderemos sobre instrumentos milenarios de Centroamérica y América del Sur y construiremos nuestras propias flautas con arcilla. Todos los materiales y herramientas están incluidos. ¡No se requiere experiencia previa con arcilla, instrumentos ni música!

Materials: All supplies provided!

All are welcome, and no previous experience with clay, instruments, or music is necessary. This class will be taught in Spanish.

Instructor Bio
Melissa Hyatt Foss is a musician, instrument-maker, composer and teaching artist hailing from Maryland and Vermont. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Art History at James Madison University, she relocated to Argentina where she studied and developed her career as a performer, researcher, and teaching artist for over a decade.  For seven years she performed as a soloist, touring in Argentina and around the world, with the Orchestra of Indigenous Instruments and New Technologies, which was recipient of the International Music Council’s Musical Rights Award in 2013.
