Chanel Compton, Maria Aldana & Margaret Footner at Creative Alliance’s 21st Birthday Celebration.
We are happy to announce that Maria Gabriela Aldana has been promoted to the position of Education Director. Maria’s previous groundbreaking work at the Creative Alliance as our Community Arts Manager includes innovative programming like Neighborhood Voices, the Piñata Entrepreneurship Program, and organizing large community arts events like the Great Halloween Lantern Parade and World Refugee Day. She began her journey at Creative Alliance in the Education Department as a teaching artist and site coordinator in 2010. Maria brings extensive relationship building, organizing, management, and grant writing experience. Her training and creativity as a visual artist informs her work. Maria has led youth education programs and community arts initiatives in Baltimore and in her home country of Nicaragua.
Creative Alliance sends warm thanks and best wishes to our former Education Director Chanel Compton who returns to the Prince George’s County African American Museum and Culture Center to serve as the Executive Director. During her tenure at the Creative Alliance, Chanel continued to develop strong relationships with local schools, youth, parents, teaching artists and community partners. We are especially proud of the growth of our young dance troupe, Creative Kaos in McElderry Park.
Please welcome Maria Gabriela Aldana, who along with Education Coordinator Jess Davison, will lead the exciting growth of Creative Alliance’s Education Department!
