Creative Alliance Rainbow Fest!

Creative Alliance | Rainbow Fest

5th Annual LGBTQA Film Festival
Thu Jul 28 – Sat Jul 30, 2016
Dedicated to Kathleen Happ

For the 5th anniversary of our fabulous LGBTQA Film Festival we are expanding into the Creative Alliance Rainbow Fest! This year, in addition to the thoughtfully curated films, we are including dazzling performances, witty comedy by beloved author Isaac Oliver, a wild Drag Party hosted by Betty O’Hellno, saucy happy hours, and more!

The film festival is one of Creative Alliance’s signature 21st Birthday programs and is only part of our ongoing support of the LGBTQA community of artists and activists in Baltimore!

Kick-off Happy Hour: Tiki Kiki! | 5:30 – 7:30pm
Join us for a colorful tiki party at the Marquee Lounge to celebrate the Rainbow Fest kickoff!  This happy hour will be hosted by IRIS, who will introduce us to the work they’re doing in the Latinx LGBTQ community – and act as our island party guides!  Alcohol sponsored by Leblon Cachaca and Jagermeister. Isaac Oliver: Intimacy Idiot (The Paperback Tour) | 7:30pm
Writer/performer Isaac Oliver’s debut collection of essays, Intimacy Idiot, was hailed as “hilarious and unsparing” by New York Magazine, “transcendent” by Entertainment Weekly, “surprisingly moving” by Kirkus, and named one of NPR’s Best Books of 2015. Oliver, a Baltimore native, returns to his hometown to celebrate the paperback release of Intimacy Idiot with a glass of pink wine, favorite stories from the book, and a few brand new ones, too. Tickets

Happy Hour: Break El Silencio | 5:30pm – 8:30pm
The Trans* community faces injustice, bias, and violence every day. A portion of the proceeds from this happy hour will benefit Trans* programs in the community. Alcohol sponsored by Mezcal El Silencio. More Info

Filmmaker Stu Maddux wants to bring us out of the closet, again. Reels and reels of home movies are showcased, from as early as the 1930’s, and they chronicle LGBT history through the intimate lens of extraordinary, everyday people documenting their lives. These tapes and films capture everything from ordinary, mundane events to very personal views of monumental moments in our history. Tickets
