Join artists for monthly Open Critique—one of Creative Alliance's longest-running programs! This is an opportunity to share artwork in progress, engage with local artists, and build community. This event is free for members, and this month is hosted by artist HOPE! Each session is an open forum to show 1-2 examples of your artwork and receive feedback from experienced artists from varying mediums and backgrounds.

This workshop is a hands-on approach to infusing herbal goodness into summertime libations. Join in the refreshment, build community, and learn how herbs can support health and well-being.
The trailblazing Plena Libre has been thrilling international audiences for nearly three decades. Masters of the traditional Puerto Rican plena and bomba styles, Plena Libre fuses well-loved traditions with modern Afro-Caribbean influences, putting a new and always electrifying spin on this scintillating music.
Pizza is like a family: beautiful, messy, kneading lots of love, occasionally greasy. In this hands-on family culinary class, learn to make delectable dough, prepare fresh toppings, and craft a perfect pizza pie. After completing this most marinawesome of tasks, kick back, share in a pizza party, and enjoy the crusts of your labor. But the fun doesn't end there! At the conclusion of the class, everyone goes home with dough and toppings to make sure it's always going to be pizza o'clock.
School of Magic Arts (SOMA), one of the world’s only 365-day-a-year stage magic schools, presents Magic Camp Summer 2024! In this five day camp, students learn the art of performing illusions based on the eight types of stage magic: production, vanish, transportation, transformation, levitation, animation, tear and restore, and solid-through-solid. They use cards, coins, mental magic, and more! SOMA’s camp program includes stage magic instruction as well as confidence-building activities, theater games, prop building, writing, and crafts. This is a great "introduction to magic" camp!
Whether you're a seasoned pro with chainsaws and large cats or a juggling newcomer who sometimes struggles with just catching a break, all are welcome at Creative Alliance's new monthly juggling jam! In this all-levels program, come ready to practice, play, and pal around with area jugglers, juggling enthusiasts, and people who are just too cool to *not* be in the jam. Fundamentals instruction available for newcomers in this accessible and joyful juggling jamboree!
Baltimore's own Rusty Sal releases their debut album as a band! They'll be joined by fiddle super star Patrick McAvinue. Join us for a night of planned and spontaneous collaborations aimed at getting you dancing! Rusty Sal helped start the Baltimore Honky Tonk with the help of buckets full of tears from all the sad, but joyfully danceable country songs they sang. Rusty Sal is: Letitia VanSant, Alex Lacquement, Luke Chohany, & EJ Thompson. Come get your two-stepping on!
Kerplunk! is great for younger kids and families! Join us in the Creativity Center every Saturday to create fun seasonal crafts and art projects based on current exhibitions! Kerplunk! is always free! Join us in the theater after you make your Kerplunk! creation for a screening of Spy Kids (2001), popcorn, and other concessions! This is a ticketed event. Blind singer, songwriter, and guitarist Raul Midón is nothing if not prolific. His 14th and latest album, Lost & Found, is a blend of what he calls smooth folk, alt-pop, and jazz or "folk with harmonic surprises." It is a celebration of redemption with lyrics inspired by Bob Dylan’s poem "Last Thoughts On Woody Guthrie." A master at combining genres, “his music suggests a three way fusion of Stevie Wonder, Bobby McFerrin, and José Feliciano” (New York Times). Midón debuted the album’s first single, the uplifting bluesy pop song "Keep On Keeping On" on the The Jennifer Hudson Show in December 2023.
Join us for a week-long summer improv camp for kids grades 3-7! Through fun games and creative exercises, young campers explore the world of improvisational theater, building confidence and teamwork skills. Each day is filled with laughter, creativity, and imaginative adventures as kids learn to think on their feet and express themselves. The Eight Annual Patsy Cline Collaboration is back! Patsy Cline is one of the most influential and acclaimed vocalists of the 21st Century. She was a true pioneer for women in the country music industry and a wild character whose personal stories shine in their retelling, again and again. Emotive and sultry, her contralto could describe the depths of the human condition with rare poignance. Hers was a voice of the century. This unique performance will honor her in song and story.
The 2nd Annual Charm City Burlesque and Variety Festival runs Friday September 27 through Saturday September 28, 2024 at Baltimore’s Creative Alliance, home to some of Baltimore’s first burlesque and variety shows. Burlesque is many things. It is sexy. It is sly. It is seductive. It shines a light on the morals and foibles of modern life and mocks them openly. In Baltimore, Burlesque is all of those things, and it is also unabashedly weird, strange, dark, funny, and a little bit twisted. Baltimore’s burlesque and variety stages have always welcomed the different and the avant-garde. Baltimore marvels in the filthy, the strange, the strangely beautiful, and the sometimes questionable and it makes it its own. The Charm City Burlesque & Variety Festival celebrates all.
Creative Alliance, TENT Rotterdam, and Baltimore-Rotterdam Sister City Committee, present Walk On By: an exhibition and a cultural exchange that connects Black artists, their diverse experiences, and artwork, across the Atlantic. Explore the Black Atlantic through the diverse stories of local artists in the historical port cities of Baltimore and Rotterdam, through exhibitions in both countries and an exchange program.
