Marc Avon Evans, one of the smoothest vocalists you will ever get a chance to hear, teams up with longtime collaborator, the sly, soulful guitarist, Kevin Jackson for an R&B drenched afternoon of serenades.
Baltimore native Marc Avon Evans possesses one of the most soulful baritones you will ever hear. Blues & Soul Magazine has compared Evans' velvety voice to the R&B legend Donny Hathaway, for both its power and subtlety.
The versatility and depth of Evan’s songwriting craft makes him stand out even further with beloved releases in neo-soul, house, acoustic hip-hop, folk, and spoken word realms. Inspired by greats like Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Sting, and Sade, Evans decided to focus on his lyrical development and perform on the open-mic poetry circuit.
“I desired to be a better lyricist. Mainstream radio is full of great voices with little to say. I wanted my lyrics to be able to stand on their own.”
Guitarist Kevin Jackson has recorded and performed with artists Sheila E., Chico Debarge, Jennifer Holliday, Maysa, Oli Silk, and more. His potent mix of soulful R&B, rock, contemporary Christian, and contemporary jazz offers something for every taste. On stage, it’s easy to see this is where he is most comfortable. Kevin is a laid back guitar player, but don’t let that fool you. Live, he and his band sneak up on you with tight grooves and sly melodies.
About Sidewalk Serenades:
Creative Alliance believes that a Baltimore without live performances is a Baltimore without joy – and we won’t stand for that!
As you likely know, working musicians, dancers, magicians, burlesque performers, aerialists, and other performance-based artists have had their gigs and their livelihoods cancelled for the foreseeable future. Join Creative Alliance in creating performance opportunities for these artists throughout Baltimore while simultaneously respecting the need for everyone to keep a safe distance.
Creative Alliance is once again offering you the opportunity to have a short performance of two to three songs delivered to the front of your home (or a friend/loved one’s home) for a small fee.
Performers will come to the confirmed address, text the residence upon arrival and, like a burst of sunlight through these gray skies, share their talents from the sidewalk. The donations from each of these performance events will be shared between the artist and Creative Alliance to help keep the arts alive and thriving in Baltimore!
What if I want to purchase a concert for someone else???
What if I live in an apartment?
What if I would like a performance but just can't afford it at this time?
