From the Instructor:
Life is art, and art is my lifeline. Growing up in South Carolina, where I was raised by my great aunt and uncle due to my father’s imprisonment and my mother’s mental illness, was challenging and formative. As a 26-year-old black queer woman engaged to another black queer woman, I navigated my sexuality in a climate of isolation and stigma. Art became my sanctuary, allowing me to process my emotions and dreams through mixed media, including painting, clay, beads, and digital design. My work is a testament to the healing power of creativity and serves as a therapeutic outlet for my mental health and self-expression.
My art form blends various mediums with a specialization in painting, capturing the essence of emotion and storytelling. Through vivid colors and intricate details, I create pieces that resonate deeply and evoke a profound connection with my viewers.
