What do cigars, boas, telephones, human skulls, and cheap sunglasses all have in common? They are great photo props! Props help put your subjects at ease. They make your photos come alive. A simple prop can add a twist to an ordinary snapshot. A vintage or unique prop can form the basis for a grand conceptual portrait. In this workshop Baltimore-based portrait and fashion photographer Vickie Gray describes how she uses props to enhance her portraits and create atmospheric vintage glamour scenes.

Punch Needle is an easy to learn, versatile embroidery technique that uses a pen-like tool with a hollow threaded needle tip transform looped fibers into lovely piled designs. You can use a wide range of materials as a base cloth, various threads, yarn, or fibers for punching. There are many design options. You can create small, ornamental motifs to large-scale wall or floor landscapes. There’s a punch needle piece for everyone!
