Camille W. Dance Presents: “The Way Forward”
Please join us for this multidisciplinary, intergenerational performance that explores the embodied personal & collective memories of black women as it relates to the shaping of identity, the molding of generations, & community. Heavily influenced by the stories shared through community sister chats, personal family interviews, community collective memory, and the artwork of artist, Myeashia Osuntola Abram, Camille brings her audience on a rites of passage journey towards understanding, acceptance, healing, & transformation. Centering & honoring this Sankofa (Go Back & Fetch it) stroll through the joyous yet complex layers of womanhood & the deeply rooted traditions that shape & define who they/we were/are, & who they/we can become. This is dedicated to those grandmothers, mamas, aunties, and all dem sistas who mothered us along the way forward…May we always go back to what we know & get what we need!
