Creative Alliance Seeks Artists for The Big Baltimore Kite Festival 2023!
SAT MAR 25th, 2023 from 12 – 4PM (Rain Date: SUN MAR 26th)
Patterson Park, Baltimore, MD
The Big Baltimore Kite Fest
Blowing into Patterson Park for our third annual festival! The Big Baltimore Kite Fest fills the sky with vibrant colors and celebrates the broad spectrum of cultures that make up the city we love. This is a community-made, artist-supported, low-tech, breezy day in the park! Working with our neighboring community groups, Creative Alliance invites people of all backgrounds to come to the park to fly and celebrate kite cultures around the world.
What We’re Looking For
We are asking artists and community groups to create NEW, BIG, BRIGHT, FUN creations to fly at the Big Baltimore Kite Fest! We’re looking for kite designs that exemplify creativity, kite culture from around the world, or just flying fun!
- Design a traditional kite!
- Grab a group of friends, neighbors, or coworkers and build a creative group kite!
- Let your imagination run wild!
(Examples include submitting designs, photographs, or video of their crafting process, as well as being available for television or newspaper interviews.) Completed kites should be wind-worthy and ready to fly on March 25!
Compensation
Creative Alliance will provide awards of $250 each for the top 2 proposals to support materials and artist fees. Selected artists may spend additional monies, but anything over the awarded amount is the sole responsibility of the artist or artist group. Awarded artists and groups also earn a complimentary membership to the Creative Alliance! There will be 3 runner-ups that will receive a free ticket to an upcoming Creative Alliance show.
Selection Criteria
We are looking for traditional and contemporary kites made by Baltimore artists and community groups who can make magic out of limited resources! Final selection of the Big Baltimore Kite Festival is chosen by Creative Alliance staff. Awards will be announced by March 10, 2023.
Payment & Ownership
Creative Alliance will pay the award the Monday after the Big Baltimore Kite Festival (Sat Mar 25th, rain date: Sun March 26th).
