This spring, Creative Alliance presents a new line-up of fun and approachable youth workshops. From Baltimore club dance, to crankies, to zines, to egg-decorating – there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Baltimore Club Dance Team
Every Wednesday | 5:30-7:30pm
Dance classes offered to teens in the McElderry Park Community! Performances, rehearsals, field trips, and professional development in the field of DANCE!
Fine Art Portfolio for Rising High School Students
7 Saturdays | Jan 9 – Feb 20 | 10am-12:30pm
Young artists advance their skills and develop a professional body of work in this portfolio class. Students create and refine illustration, painting, and sculpture.
Crankie Workshop for Kids
Sun Jan 10 | 2-3:30pm
Anna & Elizabeth book-end short performances of music and crankies (puppet shows on scrolled paper) around a workshop for families to make their own crankies!
Hip Hop Dance Workshop with Shaun Creativity
Thu Jan 21 | 6-9pm
Shaun Creativity will instruct a dance master class to teach creative expression through movement and hip-hop choreography popular in his native city Paris, France.
KERPLUNK! Free Family Art Drop-In
Saturdays | Feb 6 – Apr 23 | 12-3pm
Families and kids of all ages are invited to tour Creative Alliance’s galleries and design unique art projects linked to the exhibitions.
Open Minds
Tuesdays & Thursdays | Feb 16 – May 3 | 3-5pm
This spring young artists will create artwork inspired by cultures around the world as they existed in the past, today, and in the future. Ages 7-10.
Sketch Comedy for Youth Performers
3 Saturdays | Mar 19 – Apr 2 | 1:30-3pm
During this workshop series, students will learn the basics of sketch writing and get an brief introduction into improv comedy.
Zines for Teens
3 Saturdays | Mar 26, Apr 2 & 9 | 10-11:30am
In this three-session course, we will dive into the history of zines and learn how to design and assemble our very own finished zine.
Pysanky Ukranian Egg Decorating Workshops
Sun Mar 13 | Two Sessions! 11am & 1:30pm
Design Easter eggs using the ancient batik method of wax resist and create your own symbols like Ukrainian artist Halyna Mudryj who’s been making pysanky for over 50 years!
Stand-Up Comedy for Youth Performers
3 Saturdays | Apr 2 – 16 | 10-11:30am
Over 3 weeks, participants will deepen their knowledge of stand-up comedy and how to properly execute their comedic performance set by utilizing the core principles of comedy.
Guitar for True Beginners
3 Saturdays | Apr 2 – 16 | 10-11:30am
In only three sessions, students will establish a basic understanding of the guitar, including its parts, how to maintain it, practice habits, and other tips and tricks.
Embellishment Workshop
Sat & Sun Apr 30 & May 1 | 10-11:30am
A two-day workshop on all things embellishment. Students bring their own items to embellish using materials and methods provided by Ebony Evans.
