Film Description

Death Becomes Her (1992)

Rating: PG-13

Runtime: 104 minutes

Description: Madeline Ashton is a glamorous but fading actress, and Helen Sharp is a frumpy writer who loses her fiancé, plastic surgeon Ernest Menville, to Madeline’s seductive schemes. Years later, when Helen reemerges impossibly young and gorgeous, Madeline becomes desperate to reclaim her youth. Both women discover the secret: a mysterious potion that promises eternal life and beauty. But immortality comes with a price – and some very dark, twisted consequences. As their bodies literally fall apart while remaining alive, Madeline and Helen’s bitter rivalry spirals into macabre comedy. Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn deliver pitch-perfect performances as the feuding frenemies, with Bruce Willis as the hapless Ernest caught between them, and Isabella Rossellini as the enigmatic potion dealer Lisle Von Rhuman. This darkly comic fantasy from director Robert Zemeckis won an Academy Award for its groundbreaking visual effects and remains a cult classic about vanity, obsession, and the futility of trying to cheat death.
