Our CIELO Department and the Artesanas have a LOT going on around Baltimore this summer! Join in one of the many opportunities to learn and share Latin American traditional art forms.

Piñatas Workshop at ARTreach
Learn to make piñatas with the Artesanas at ARTreachfest this Saturday! We are so excited to be involved with this free, one-day festival on June 4 at Long Reach Village Center! Hope to see you there!

ARTreach is free for everyone and features live music, art demonstrations, hands-on activities, face painting, henna, caricatures, puppets, children’s performances, strolling performers, an interactive photo booth, and more! More information is available at www.artreachfestival.org

We close the street outside of Creative Alliance to showcase a wide variety Latin American artisans, music, foods, and traditions that have been passed down through the generations. Celebrate with us and enjoy special live performances and traditional workshops that reflect the colors, sounds, textures, dances, and flavors of our heritage.

Piñata Making 
The piñata is a symbol of Mexican culture but has evolved to be part of cultures in other countries such as the United States. Traditionally, in Mexico, piñatas are made in the form of stars with 7 peaks.

La piñata es símbolo de la cultura Mexicana, pero ha llegado a formar parte de la cultura de otros países, incluyendo de los Estados Unidos. En el país de México, las piñatas tradicionales son hechas en forma de estrellas, con 7 picos.

Join the Artesanas, an award-winning and 2017 Best of Baltimore folkloric group of talented women at the Creative Alliance, to learn how to make a traditional corn husk flowers.

Acompañe a las Artesanas, grupo de mujeres talentosas de Creative Alliance y ganadoras del premio 2017 Best of Baltimore, para aprender a hacer flores de hojas de maíz.

Hand-Frayed Fabric Flowers
Join the Artesanas, an award-winning and 2017 Best of Baltimore folkloric group of talented women at the Creative Alliance, to learn how to make a traditional hand-frayed fabric flower. A fine craft by the women from Aguascalientes, Mexico, hand-frayed fabric flowers have become part of the State Cultural Heritage.

Acompañe a las Artesanas, grupo de mujeres talentosas de Creative Alliance y ganadoras del premio 2017 Best of Baltimore, para aprender a hacer flores de tela deshilachadas. Las flores de tela deshilachadas son una especialidad de las mujeres de Aguascalientes, México, y han formado parte de la herencia cultural estatal.
