A Message from Josh Kohn, Creative Alliance Performance Director

Creative Alliance | josh kohn

Time to move on…

Seven years ago, almost to the day, I joined the team at Creative Alliance. I credit Creative Alliance for helping me grow as a person and as an arts administrator. I am so proud of so many of our accomplishments – every Crankie Fest, the Sidewalk Serenades program, the Nasty Women Bad Hombres Inauguration Event, The Sacred Music Series at B’nai Israel, Nisaa: Women, the first Kite fest and the list goes on and on and on and on. So many Baltimore artists have enriched my life and the staff here has continually wowed me with their ideas and energy. My time as Performance Director might be the most fun, most joyful employment experience of my life.

In November, I will be moving on from Creative Alliance. I will be 41 with a growing family and the time feels right. I am thrilled to be joining up with my longtime collaborator and true visionary of a human being Jon Lohman, as the Associate Director for the nascent Center for Cultural Vibrancy. Our work will focus on creating and supporting opportunities for the exchange of culture and ideas. While I am staying here in Baltimore, we will function beyond state, national and international boundaries so expect to see the outcome of our work here, there, and everywhere.

So what is next? Creative Alliance will need to find my successor, and I KNOW there are tons of great candidates out there who want the freedom and thrill that comes with this job. APPLY APPLY APPLY! Have questions about the gig? Hit me up!

If you have a show booked at Creative Alliance, don’t worry. I am sticking around until November plus will continue beyond that time to co-curate the Crankie Fest (Jan 7-8-9!) and support the other larger festivals. We will make sure that any shows already confirmed continue to get our full love and support. Oh, and we have some killer shows booked through 2022 that will be announced in the coming months.

Fondly,

Josh
