Joyce J. Scott Necklace | Image 1
In her 30+ year career as an artist, MacArthur ‘Genius’ Fellow, Joyce J. Scott, has demonstrated mastery over a broad range of materials to explore subject matter that combines autobiographical with historical content. Although best known for her multi-layered approach using glass beads, which often blends elaborate off -loom beadwork with blown glass and found objects, Scott has established herself as an innovative artist, sculptor, jeweler, print maker, performer, and installation artist whose work creates powerful opportunities for difficult, needed dialogue on racial, gender, and economic issues.  Included in both the Venice Biennale and Prospect New Orleans, Scott’s work is included in most major museum collections, nationally, and she has been the subject numerous one-woman exhibitions worldwide.  She is currently working on her largest exhibition to date, opening at Grounds for Sculpture, NJ, in October of 2017.
The Smithsonian American Art Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The Mint Museum of Art, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Baltimore Museum of Art, and the RISD Museum are some of the institutions which count Scott’s art among their permanent collections. A recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, Scott was awarded the largest Mary Sawyers Imboden Baker Prize, a Master of the Medium Award from the Glass Arts Society, Anonymous Was A Woman Award, and a prestigious MacArthur Fellowship.

Aerial Photography with Peter Stern | Image 1 | Image 2
Description: Light sport pilot and aerial photographer Peter Stern takes you on a magical aerial photography flight over York County, Pennsylvania in his 2-place Rans S12 airplane. In this flight, we will explore the unique and intriguing geometry of fields, towns and quarries as seen from the air, and witness the majestic Susquehanna River. Stern will show how he views and interprets the colors, shapes and textures of the landscape below, and how he uses his airplane and camera in an integrated process to create his images. Passengers are encouraged to bring their own camera and explore the views as well.
Stern has been flying for fifteen years and has over 1000 hours of logged flight time. His Rans S12 is a safe, gentle and comfortable aircraft. As it is a very light aircraft, passenger weight is limited to around 220 pounds. We will meet at Hunt Valley and drive together or meet at Stern’s home airport in Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, which is just over the Maryland line. Passengers will be asked to sign a waiver of liability, but Stern has passenger liability insurance for passengers in his aircraft.
The date of the flight will be contingent on weather conditions, and the passenger will need to be flexible to work with scheduling for optimal weather. But Stern will work with the recipient to arrange a time, either on a weekday or weekend, that works best for making the flight a safe, unique and inspiring experience.
