Theatre Teacher

Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Temporary
Reports to: Education Director
Compensation: $35/hour
Hire Dates: June 21st to August 12th
Schedule: Mondays Only- 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM 
Site: St. Vincent on 242 S Patterson Park Ave.

Overview of Creative Alliance Education: Creative Alliance provides after-school and summer programming that includes academic, artistic, and cultural enrichment to students in K-8th grade in educational settings throughout Southeast Baltimore City. Students receive multicultural art enrichments, and exercise. Creative Alliance partners with various community organizations and teaching artists to provide arts enrichment including theater, Visual Arts, African drumming, Mexican dance, percussive music, and cooking.

The Theatre Teacher supports Creative Alliance and St. Vincent's summer camp goals and policies. Teachers will write and implement creative weekly lesson plans and submit daily enrichment journals using Creative Alliance templates. 

The Theatre Teacher is paid for 5 additional hours of planning provided they have submitted both their lesson plan and daily enrichment journal.  Additional hours may include: Planning, ordering supplies, professional development, youth rehearsals, finales, and evaluations.

Responsibilities: 

● Teach theatre lessons and lead theatre games
● Promote the mission of Creative Alliance and goals of Camp St. Vincent
● Attend mandatory trainings and professional development workshops
● Supervise and conduct 50 minutes of arts enrichment to class of max 20 students per class
● Conduct student assessments with the support of supervisor
● Delegate tasks to program assistants and/or volunteers
● Follow safety protocols and behavior management policies of Camp St. Vincent and Creative Alliance
● Maintain an orderly classroom
● Plan for and participate in summer youth finale presentations

Requirements:

● Enthusiasm for Creative Alliance’s mission, programs, and workshops
● Minimum of 2 years experience as an arts educator for K-8 grade students
● Minimum of 4 years experience in the area of teaching
● Complete a background check
● Effective communication skills
● Timeliness
● Covid-19 Vaccinated and able to show proof of vaccination
