Sidewalk Serenades: The Homestead Street Band

Close (But Not Too Close) Personal Concerts

SUN MAR 22 | 2PM, 3PM, 4PM, 5PM, 6PM, & 7PM

Sunday March 22 | $75

Hannah Thompson is a wonderful banjo player, singer, and guitarist. She also happens to be part of our live sound team, providing shimmering mixes to help you enjoy music in one of the best listening rooms in the region. Live sound engineers like Hannah have had their livelihood put in jeopardy with the cancellation of so many events. Hannah, along with her old time band, The Homestead Street Band, will create an old school hootenanny in front of your home as part of our brand new home concert artist support delivery series, Sidewalk Serenades: Close (Bit Not Too Close) Personal Concerts. In the time of Covid-19, we shouldn’t forget the power of live music. Enjoy the best of Baltimore from 6ft or more. ONLY 6 SLOTS! Secure a personal concert while you can!

About Sidewalk Serenades:

Creative Alliance believes that a Baltimore without live performances is a Baltimore without joy – and we won’t stand for that!

As you likely know, working musicians, dancers, magicians, burlesque performers, aerialists, and other performance-based artists have had their gigs and their livelihoods cancelled for the foreseeable future. Join Creative Alliance in creating performance opportunities for these artists throughout Baltimore while simultaneously respecting the need for everyone to keep a safe distance.

Beginning this week Creative Alliance will offer you the opportunity to have a short performance with two to three songs delivered to the front of your home (or a friend/loved one’s home) for a small fee.

Performers will come to the confirmed address, text the residence upon arrival and, like a burst of sunlight through these gray skies, share their talents from the sidewalk. The donations from each of these performance events will be shared between the artist and Creative Alliance to help keep the arts alive and thriving in Baltimore!

The Basics:

  • Performers will come to the front of your (or loved ones) home and will perform for 10-15 minutes.
  • Concerts will be scheduled on the hour, and you can purchase them at the Creative Alliance website.
  • Sales end when each slot is booked OR 8am day of the concerts.
  • If there is poor weather, concerts will be rescheduled to the next nice day

What if I want to purchase a concert for someone else???

  • Just leave the name, address, and cell number of the person the concert is for in the COMMENTS Section when you check out online, or, let us know if you want to purchase over the phone (M-F, 11am-5pm during shutdown)

What if I live in an apartment?

  • Performers will not enter an apartment or shared home but can perform in front of the complex

What if I would like a performance but just can't afford it at this time?

  • While there is a fee per concert, there are opportunities for those without the means to still have some music in their lives. Musicians have been asking to do additional performance gratis in such a case for the community. If you are in need or work at an organization where you still need to congregate (a hospital, perhaps) and have a safe space for a performance to occur, reach out to to coordinate.
