Class Description: Are you a performer who wants to exude more confidence using fans on stage?
Do you find yourself only doing a few basic fan dance moves in your performances, or are you too afraid to use your fan at all? Are you looking to take your fan dance acts to the next level by creating your own signature style, but are not sure where to begin? This class is here to help. Through the art of storytelling and musicality, Poison Ivory will teach her students tips and techniques on how to confidently incorporate fans into any act.
Any requirements for students for prep for class (comfy clothing, shoes, reading materials, etc): – Wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement during dance routines.
Participants should come prepared with fan(s) of their choosing. Demonstrations will be done with both Feather fans, and silk fans. But participants are free to bring whatever they have. Borrowing fans is not recommended for this course, as the lessons are structured around building a relationship with their fans, but that is up to the participants.
Brief teacher bio: Leaning towards the classic side of the burlesque spectrum, her performance style can be best described as a combination of sultry expression, sensual movement and thoughtful musicality. A study in contrast, as her name and tagline suggest -Brown Sugar and Spice- she possesses the quick and the slow, the sweet and the nasty, the sultry and the innocent, and the ability to seamlessly transition between them.
