Lydia Ethem – Instructor Bio:
Inspired by everything from classical Greek sculpture, Mannerism, and Romanticism, to anime, music, and international pop culture, Lydia uses her skills as a multimedia artist to create art that jumps off the canvas and envelopes the viewer. She does this in such a way that might recall a story book or fairy tale, sometimes pairing that soft and comforting aesthetic with the grotesque or macabre, using her art to investigate a feminine relationship to the external world, the body, and the mind. She often presents her poetry alongside her visual art practice, providing a fantasized lens to the viewer. Lydia delves within herself and combines it all to create her own fantastical world to explore, externalizing the world as she experiences it.
