Belly Dance w/ Naimah Dances

Learn classic and modern Middle Eastern style belly dance. Both a social dance and a form of entertainment, belly dance is a great way to meet amazing people and learn about Egyptian history and culture. Pick up the foundational moves and vocabulary of belly dance, while learning about ethics, etiquette, music, and history of belly dance. And be ready to MOVE! We’ll explore isolations, spatial awareness, strength, flexibility, and some use of props. All experience levels welcome!

Age Range: Adults, all experience levels welcome
Cost: $20 per session, $16 members, $105 for all 7 classes
Materials: Comfortable dance pants, no skirts, quiet hip scarves optional, ballet slippers, socks, or bare feet (no street shoes)

Instructor Bio
Naimah (she/her) is an award winning belly dancer from Baltimore, MD, and director of award-winning troupe, Amandari. With a background in ballet, modern, hip hop, African dance, and fine art, her style is best described as eclectic and eccentric. She teaches online classes on a multitude of topics pertaining to belly dance including history, culture, strength, flexibility, and more. She calls this format “Multiversal Movement” as belly dance and performance art in general is multidimensional. She is also a recently certified group fitness instructor. Naimah has produced many shows in Maryland and is currently the co-producer of Maryland’s largest belly dance festival, Art of the Belly, in Ocean City, MD.
