Does sound influence your taste buds? Find out in this deep coffee dive into sensory exploration through sound with Southeastern Roastery Coffee Lab.
Join an informal, experimental, and open to all afternoon in the lab located in Crown Industrial Park. This is your chance to explore the connections of sound, vision, and taste for a research project on “Alternative Sensory Methods for Tasting and Smelling Coffee.”
Learn about the Chladni plate, a methodology for visualizing sound, then experience the research in action! Listen to jazz guitarists Ivan Liptak and Jonathan Blazer swerve through sound as roaster Candy Schibli offers blind tastings to compare how changes of sound frequency influence your taste perception. The data from your tasting experiment will be included in Candy’s next study! Enjoy lite bites that complement the coffee flavors.
The coffees of Southeastern Roastery are sustainably grown, support biodiversity, thoughtfully packaged, and sold with love for balanced, healthy consumption for ourselves and the world around us.
