Location: Better Waverly
Join State Delegate, Elizabeth Embry, in her Better Waverly home for an evening with Candice Tavares, a current Resident Artist at Creative Alliance. Candice is a Palliative Care provider as well as a self-taught wood artist whose artwork has provided her a way to process the emotions of her job.
During the evening, Candice shares her artwork and discusses the fascinating intersection of art and health care. Her experiences as a Black woman working in healthcare have shaped the art that she creates leading to a heavy emphasis on inclusivity. She includes a wide range of complexions and hair textures in her work by incorporating multiple wood species, stains, and techniques to create images that feel representative to women across the diaspora.
Elizabeth and co-host Paul Pineau, General Counsel for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, cook up a delicious spread of curries and sambals served with delightful cocktails and mocktails.
