Location: Phoenix, MD
Sculptor David Hess built his house and studio on 25-acres in Phoenix, Maryland. For most of his 36-year career, this has become a living-laboratory for large and small-scale sculpture and furniture commissions. You will have the opportunity to peek into this sculptural oasis, where David experiments and builds using industrial and agricultural cast-offs from Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Try your hand at welding and metalworking with expert tutorials from David, Kyle Miller, Jonathan Maxwell, and Jim Earlbeck. Snack on Andy Nelson’s barbecue and drink delicious local beer. Before you leave, take a map of over 26 public art pieces in the Baltimore/Washington Area. Suggested attire for those participating in metalworking: long pants and work boots.
Co-hosted by Sally Hess. Sponsored by Jim Earlbeck and Earlbeck Gasses and Technologies.
