In this figure drawing class taught by Lydia Ethem, students will be inspired by the flowing lines and elegant forms of the Art Nouveau era. Inspired by the works of Alphonse Mucha, Gustav Klimt, and other masters of the movement, this course explores the human form through the lens of ornamental design, organic motifs, and stylized beauty.
Students will work from live models and reference materials, focusing on graceful linework, expressive poses, and the integration of natural elements like florals, vines, and flowing hair. Techniques will include contour drawing, composition design, and the use of decorative pattern.
Open to all levels, this class balances foundational figure drawing skills with creative interpretation, encouraging each student to develop their own stylized aesthetic while staying rooted in the Art Nouveau tradition.
