Chef Chris Amendola is a licensed forager and when he is not in the kitchen, he is in the woods. It was his love for the outdoors that inspired his acclaimed Hampden Restaurant Foraged Eatery - a chef’s love for finding food in nature combined with a love for cooking flavorful food. Chef Chris leads you and a small group of 15 on a foraging adventure! Learn the basics of foraging, mushroom hunting, safety protocol, and identification. The fall harvest in Maryland brings pawpaws, mushrooms, nuts, and more. Chef Chris shares tips and tricks for making the most out of your foraged finds and seasonal ingredients.

Please bring comfortable shoes for hiking, bring a mask, and a basket or bag for taking your finds home

Join us at a beautiful and recently restored Civil War-era gristmill in Monkton, MD for a Taste of History! Lauren Calia and Angelo Otterbein host a delicious feast complete with period fare and musicians that will transport you to another century. Charles W. Mitchell, author of Maryland Voices of the Civil War and Travels Through American History in the Mid-Atlantic: A Guide for All Ages, will regale guests with tales of the Civil War, such as how a cross-dressing pirate sailed a hijacked steamer to the Confederacy and why a pair of one-armed generals shared a pair of gloves.

Have you noticed the bridge over west Northern Parkway? It’s part of the final 3-mile section of the Jones Falls Trail! The full trail now runs for 10 miles, from the Inner Harbor to Mt. Washington Village and this final section, which runs from Cylburn Arboretum to the Kelly Avenue bridge, was recently completed. It’s great for cyclists who prefer lovely shade on a safe trail away from city streets. Pedal 6 miles round trip with Anne Draddy, author of Druid Hill Park: The Heart of Historic Baltimore, take in the scenery, and return to the starting point for a rejuvenating picnic lunch. This event is Bring Your Own Bike and is intended for Intermediate Level riders.

Towson University College of Fine Arts and Communication hosts the premiere screening of Bombers and Masterpieces: Recovering the Life, Art, and Diary of René Gimpel with an introduction by Holocaust scholar and the Director of the Jewish Museum of Maryland, Sol Davis. Nosh on tiny kosher knishes and sample wines from France and Israel as you engage in a Q&A with TU Film Professor Greg Faller and producing partner Lillian Bowers.
