POSITION: Accounting Consultant Intern
LOCATION: Baltimore, MD (Highlandtown)

BACKGROUND

Creative Alliance is a multifaceted community arts organization that seeks to bring together artists and audiences from diverse backgrounds to experience spectacular arts programs. We are seeking an organized, efficient, and creative individual to help us with our day to day financial operations. Interns will receive an education in how a community arts organization operates day to day, and will assist the Finance Director with daily responsibilities. The position is unpaid, but eligible for college credit. Position requires at least 10 hours per week and a minimum 3 month commitment during traditional semesters (2 months in the summer) with flexible day time scheduling between Wednesday through Friday. 

QUALIFICATIONS

- Passionate about gaining non-profit accounting experience, especially in the arts.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Well-organized with an ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; some QuickBooks knowledge preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Transportation

RESPONSIBILITIES

Main duties (80%):
- Track and engage in depth financial and trending analysis and research to drive cost cutting initiatives.
- Take ownership of organizational streamlining project.  Based on review of employee recommendations and observation of current manual tasks, assist with streamlining accounting processes.

Other duties (20%):
- Assist the other accounting intern with accounts payable, Quickbooks cash/check application, credit card entry, accounts receivable, payroll journal entries, and documentation compiling as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist in preparation of files for the bookkeeper including accounts payable coding and printing reports.
- Assist with recording cash/check deposits and applying accounts receivable in QuickBooks.
- Assist with compiling documentation for audits, licenses, and grants.
- Assist with implementation of process improvements for credit card reconciliations.
- Distribution and mailing of checks.
- Document preparation and scanning, information gathering, and PTO tracker updates necessary for implementation of new Zenefits employee HR portal.

POSITION: Marketing Intern
LOCATION: Baltimore, MD (Highlandtown)

BACKGROUND
Creative Alliance, Baltimore’s premier multi-arts center, seeks a Marketing Intern. S/he helps promote the 200+ annual events at Creative Alliance, ranging from hip hop shows, to blues and other musical performances, screenings, arts workshops, our restaurant Clementine, and education programs. The intern will work on various aspects of marketing in a fast-paced environment. The position is unpaid, but eligible for college credit. Position requires a minimum of 8 hours a week and a minimum 3 month commitment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce email/print flyers using a template.
- Aid in the development of visual material for bulk emails and social media promotion.
- Aid in the print production of marketing materials as needed (soliciting bids from printers, managing workflow, etc.)
- Pitch performances to listservs, bloggers, and such interest groups
- Populate event calendars (City Paper, Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Fun Guide, etc.) with Creative Alliance events.- Edit and update website copy and images as needed.
- Write Google Ads account by writing ads for all events, monitoring ad performance, and designing landing pages to drive traffic to the site.
- Physically distribute postcards and posters around Baltimore.
- Send out customer surveys post-performance on audience make-up, preferences, and attendance.
- Aid in finding and editing images for digital communications

QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with basic marketing principles (market segmentation, effective ad copy, etc.)
- Knowledge of social media platforms (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace)
- Familiarity with HTML, or willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with Adobe Programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) or willingness to learn.
