POSITION: Marketing Intern
LOCATION: Baltimore, MD (Highlandtown)

Creative Alliance, Baltimore’s premier multi-arts center, seeks a Marketing Intern. S/he helps promote the 200+ annual events at Creative Alliance, ranging from hip hop shows, to blues and other musical performances, screenings, arts workshops, our restaurant Clementine, and education programs. The intern will work on various aspects of marketing in a fast-paced environment. The position is unpaid, but eligible for college credit. Position requires a minimum of 8 hours a week and a minimum 3 month commitment.

- Produce email/print flyers using a template.
- Aid in the development of visual material for bulk emails and social media promotion.
- Aid in the print production of marketing materials as needed (soliciting bids from printers, managing workflow, etc.)
- Pitch performances to listservs, bloggers, and such interest groups
- Populate event calendars (City Paper, Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Fun Guide, etc.) with Creative Alliance events.- Edit and update website copy and images as needed.
- Write Google Ads account by writing ads for all events, monitoring ad performance, and designing landing pages to drive traffic to the site.
- Physically distribute postcards and posters around Baltimore.
- Send out customer surveys post-performance on audience make-up, preferences, and attendance.
- Aid in finding and editing images for digital communications

- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with basic marketing principles (market segmentation, effective ad copy, etc.)
- Knowledge of social media platforms (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace)
- Familiarity with HTML, or willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with Adobe Programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) or willingness to learn.

POSITION: Marquee Ball Development Intern
LOCATION: Baltimore, MD (Highlandtown)

Development Department has an exciting internship opportunity available. This position is ideal for undergraduate students seeking experience in the arts non-profit sector, including event-planning, relationship management, marketing, and fundraising. The intern selected for this position will work primarily on the 2014 Gala. The Marquee Ball Development Intern will assist the Annual Fund Director with various projects related to the Marquee Ball including silent and live auction procurement, production of the Gala Program, data entry, and logistics at the event.

This position provides the opportunity to gain experience and training in:

  • Constituent relationship management
  • Meeting planning and execution
  • Database management
  • Special event logistics and planning
  • Sales and fundraising
  • General Office Skills

- Research companies for auction procurement and fundraising opportunities
- Meticulously track silent auction items
- Assist in planning/implementation of events
- Other office duties as assigned

- Interested in fundraising
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard computer functions
- Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, and other social media

Open to college students in good academic standing, completeing their sopomore, junior, or senior year with excellent spoken and written communication skills; comfortable doing local outreach with the ability and willingness to learn and apply new skills quickly. Great attention to detail and accountability for work. The ideal candidate would also possess friendly phone etiquette and problem solving skills; enjoys working both independently and as part of a team; is a self starter, creative, resourceful, and outgoing person. Will work closely with our Events Manager to solicit local business donations to our annual Awards Gala and Online Auction. They will also participate in the creative planning and execution of the Gala event. A successful intern will be energetic, goal-oriented, and will not be afraid of making a "cold call" in person or via phone. The skills and confidence developed in these types of internships are invaluable to successfully running a variety of fundraisers in our current arts environment.
