The Patterson hosts a historic collaboration between Native Americans from Mexico and the Mid-Atlantic. Huicholes from Mexico’s Sierra Madres join Accohannock and Lumbees from Maryland for a Day of Recognition of the American Indian.
Native flutist Ron Warren takes the stage, with BAIC’s Soaring Eagles drum and dance troupe, and a Huichol ritual performance with shaman Brigido Medrano Romero. Native panelists address contemporary issues facing tribes at home and abroad. Buffalo burgers and veggie dinner w/fry bread by Oxendine Catering! Arte en Estambre by Francisco Loza and Macario Carrillo exhibit reception w/ new works by area Native American youth in program of BAIC and BCPSS.
