Armed with advanced classical training from Baltimore School for the Arts and an extensive jazz education at University of the Arts, Ed Hrybyk’s bass playing is nothing short of world-class.
This show celebrates the public release of “Bright Moments,” Ed’s debut album. A promising composer and arranger, Ed leads his six-piece band through a diverse selection of original compositions. His yearning ballad “Stuck” recently received the 2018 Maryland Arts Council’s Individual Artist Award for Non-Classical Composition.
Ed is featured on three albums with Ultrafaux, three with the Hot Club of Baltimore, and one with Sonny Nelson and Unity Reggae Band. He has established himself as a top-call bassist in DC, Baltimore, and New Orleans performing alongside esteemed musicians such as, Warren Wolf, Davon Fleming, Sean Jones, Stephane Wremble, and Russell Welch.

Developed by Baltimore native, bassist Kris Funn, and based in the DMV, The Cornerstore includes his fellow Howard University alum, drummer Quincy Phillips, and guitarist John Lee. Between them they have performed with such artists as Sean Jones, Christian Scott, Pharoah Sanders, Benny Golson, Roy Hargrove, Christian McBride, Nicholas Payton, Kamasi Washington, Hassan Hakmoun, Cyro Baptista, and Fatoumata Diawara and many others. Cornerstore released its first album in 2017, under the leadership of first call bassist Kris Funn. Life lessons meeting at the intersection of blues, rock, bebop and hip hop.
