I Am Divine!
Charm City LGBT Film Festival
(Jeffrey Schwarz, 2013, USA, 85 min)
Baltimore’s own Harris Glenn Milstead, aka Divine (1945-1988), was the ultimate outsider turned underground hero. Working with John Waters, his director and good friend, Glenn went from the often-mocked, schoolyard fat kid to underdog royalty, standing up for millions of gay people, drag queens, punk rockers, misfits, and freaks. I Am Divine! is as much a celebration of Baltimore and underground filmmaking as it is a tribute to Divine’s style that permanently revolutionized pop culture. Screening presented by Joshua Grannell aka Peaches Christ, one of the subjects of the film. Sponsored by Delegate Maggie McIntosh and Christy Bergland.
Our second annual Charm City Film Festival brings to Baltimore seven feature length films celebrating queer lives, offering insight into civil rights issues and reveling in gay pride.
Presenting Sponsor: Robbye Apperson.
Festival Sponsors: Towson University and the College of Fine Arts and Communication, and AIDS Action Baltimore, Inc.
Weekend passes available by calling our box office at 410-276-1651 and are $60 general public, $35 members. Click here for a full list of films!
