Marquee Ball 2016: Creative Alliance Celebrates 21 Years!

A transforming cultural force, champion of artists, incubator for Baltimore’s diverse arts landscape, and anchor for Highlandtown’s revitalization – the Creative Alliance celebrates 21 years!

Join us to toast to the future with more exceptional programming and an exciting expansion of our arts education programs. 

Our COLOSSAL 21st BIRTHDAY BASH on April 16 includes 3 cosmic parties in one night! Stellar live music, futuristic costumes, galactic décor, wild performances, live and silent art auctions, interactive art installations, delectable fare and cosmic cocktails!

OUR HONOREES:
Senator Barbara Milkulski
Esteemed US Senator and longest serving woman in the history of the United States Congress, Highlandtown native Barbara Mikulski receives the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Lea Gilmore
Internationally recognized vocalist and human rights activist, Lea Gilmore receives the Golden Formstone Award for her “formidable contributions to Baltimore through the arts.”

The lounge party has expanded throughout The Patterson! Exclusive performances, heavy hors d’ouevres by Blacksauce Kitchen, specialty cocktails, beer & wine, and entry to the Dance Party w/ Black Alley are all included! Watch Super Art Fight create a LIVE futuristic mural, catch a David Bowie tribute by Adam Cooley in the lounge, play a custom built sci-fi Tardis Theramin upstairs, wander through the artist studios, and don’t forget to bid on specially selected artwork!

 

Deep Space Dance Party with BLACK ALLEY! 9:30pm

Get on your galactic gear and dance into deep space with the upbeat go-go and soul tunes of DC’s Black Alley. Bid on select artwork in the silent auction, snap some pics in our cosmos-themed photo booth, stare at the cosmic costumes – prepare for a night of astronomical proportions! Wine, beer, and light fare included.

Our Main Gallery is curated by Amy Eva Raehse, Lat Naylor, and Jeremy Stern. More than 80 artists from Baltimore and beyond have contributed their artwork to the show. Bidding closes at 11pm during the Marquee Ball.

We have been digging through the archives! Travel back in time and view displays throughout the building and in the Amalie Rothschild Gallery is memorabilia from the early days of Creative Alliance!

 

THE DECOR

Matt Muirhead and his partner McKenzie Elizabeth Ditter are in the process of designing the sci-fi decor for the Creative Alliance’s 2016 Marquee Ball!
Their work for the 2016 Marquee Ball is a funky combination of sci-fi tropes from Bladerunner to The 5th Element, Doctor Who to Major Tom… all with a taste of classic ‘50s kitsch.

As always, the Marquee Ball supports Creative Alliance’s free after school and neighborhood outreach programs! Our programs are praised for their high quality by parents, teachers, and educational institutions alike. Annually, over 2,000 Baltimore City elementary and middle school students learn new concepts, vocabulary, social and problem solving skills by making complex arts projects.
